Earthquake in Indonesia's Banda Sea forces evacuations in Australia's most northern city

The Australian Bureau of Meteorology say the earthquake hit near the Banda Sea and said there is no tsunami threat to the country on the back of it.

A strong earthquake has struck in Indonesia's Banda Sea, with the tremor felt in the north of Australia.

The US Geological Survey said the magnitude-7.3 quake was centred 129 miles below the earth's surface.
