Death toll from Papua New Guinea earthquake rises to 55

At least 55 people have been confirmed dead and authorities fear the toll from last week's powerful earthquake in Papua New Guinea could exceed 100, as survivors faced more shaking from the strongest aftershock so far early today.

Southern Highlands governor William Powi told the Associated Press that people were feeling traumatised from the disaster and ongoing aftershocks.
