Jailed Chinese Nobel Peace laureate and dissident Liu Xiaobo has been released on medical parole after being diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer, his lawyer said.

Jailed Chinese Nobel Peace laureate and dissident Liu Xiaobo has been released on medical parole after being diagnosed with late-stage liver cancer, his lawyer said.

Mr Liu was in stable condition at the China Medical University No 1 Affiliated Hospital in the north-eastern city of Shenyang, Mo Shaoping told The Associated Press.
