Left-leaning candidate Alexander Van der Bellen appears to have an unbeatable lead over right-winger Norbert Hofer in the Austrian presidential election.

The first official results, released shortly after the polls closed on Sunday, show Mr Van der Bellen with 53.5% of the vote while Mr Hofer has 46.4%.
