Donald Trump endorses Nigel Farage for US ambassador role -which is already taken

Nigel Farage says he's in a good position to help Donald Trump's team - after the US president-elect said he should be an ambassador to the US.

Many people would like to see @Nigel_Farage represent Great Britain as their Ambassador to the United States. He would do a great job!

Downing Street says the job is already taken.

I have known several of the Trump team for years and I am in a good position with the President-elect’s support to help.

The decision would be down to the British government - and announced by the Queen.

But foreign affairs writer Tim Marshall reckons there could be some role for Mr Farage: "There is no way in hell they can ever make Nigel Farage ambassador.

"But you can make a cojent argument for Farage having some role to play, because if he can help smooth the way to a better trade deal, why would you let politics get in the way?"
