Ceasefire in Aleppo has ended

A 10-hour ceasefire in Syria to allow people to leave the besieged districts of Aleppo has ended.

Russia proposed the pause in fighting, saying it was the rebels last chance to leave.

However activists say no-one left the area and government and Russian forces are expected to resume their attacks.

Defence Secretary Michael Fallon says it is horrifying: "I'm appalled that Russia should go on bombing civilians, in Aleppo preventing people from getting the food and medical supplies they need.

"This is in Russia's hands, Russia could end this indiscrimminate and appalling bombing tomorrow."
