A grandmother with a fear of heights has thanked the "amazing" firefighters who rescued her and her grandson from a broken-down ferris wheel in England which left the pair stranded 35ft in the air.

A grandmother with a fear of heights has thanked the "amazing" firefighters who rescued her and her grandson from a broken-down ferris wheel in England which left the pair stranded 35ft in the air.

Frances Crouch, 53, and six-year-old Jack Whitmore were stuck for more than an hour in a pod at the top of the Solent Wheel at Clarence Pier, Southsea, Portsmouth, on Monday September 19 before crews could free them.
