Michelle Obama urges Spanish women to join Let Girls Learn initiative

US First Lady Michelle Obama has appealed to girls and young women in Spain to get involved in her global education initiative, saying it is important girls are "valued for their minds".

Speaking to 100 young women at a conference in Madrid, Mrs Obama spoke of the difficulties girls face in trying to get a school education in many countries. She said she had come to Spain in the hope of inspiring local women and girls to help fight for change.
