Verdict due in German trial of former Auschwitz guard

A 94-year-old former SS sergeant who served as a guard at Auschwitz faces a possible 15 years in prison if he is found guilty of more than 100,000 counts of accessory to murder on allegations that he helped the Nazi death camp kill 1.1 million Jews and others.
Reinhold Hanning (pictured) admitted during his trial at Detmold state court that he volunteered for the SS at the age of 18 and served in Auschwitz from January 1942 to June 1944 but said he was not involved in the killings in the camp in Nazi-occupied Poland.
