Pope offers refuge to three Syrian families in show of 'common humanity'
Pope Francis implored Europe on Saturday to respond to the migrant crisis on its shores "in a way that is worthy of our common humanity" - and then showed the way by taking three Syrian families back to Italy with him.
The 12 Syrian refugees, all of them Muslim, include six children. They met with Francis on the tarmac on the island of Lesbos and boarded the plane bound for Rome.
