A man has been arrested in England over a sex attack on an eight-year-old girl in a Greggs bakery shop.

The 34-year-old from Bradford was detained on suspicion of sexual assault and later bailed, West Yorkshire Police said.

The attack happened shortly after 3.30pm on Friday, February 12, when the girl was waiting with her younger brother in the seating area of Greggs, on The Headrow, in Leeds, while her mother paid at the counter.

Police said the incident had been "distressing" for the victim and her family.

Chief Inspector Mark Griffin, from the Leeds district policing team, said: "A 34-year-old man from the Bradford area has been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and has been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

"I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who shared our appeal for information, and for the public's support in this matter."
