Several dead following attack by Al Shebab millitants in Somalia

In Somalia several people are reported to have died in an attack by Al Shebab militants on an African Union base.

The group linked to Al-Qaeda terrorists struck this morning in the southwest of the country.

The Islamist group has said it has taken “complete control” of the AU camp.

A Shebab spokesman has claimed they killed 63 Kenyan troops in the pre-dawn raid, but news agency AFP has said the claim has not been verified.

Residents have said that insurgents had paraded bodies through the town.
