A German far-right group is staging a rally in Cologne following sex attacks on women in the city centre on New Year's Eve.

The police chief has been forced to stand down, after criticism of the way his officers responded to what happened.

Victims say some of the attackers were of North African or Arab appearance.

Chancellor Angela Merkel says that laws regulating asylum seekers may now be reformed: “In my view this has several aspects, one is the question are our laws sufficient, that we should maybe carry out changes,

“I think there are indications that changes must happen and the Government coalition, the interior minister and the justice minister are discussing just what we could improve.”
