Man hunt in Munich as search continues for suspected suicide bombers

German police are hunting for up to seven people they say were plotting suicide attacks in Munich.

A New Year's Eve terror alert saw two major train stations in the city closed.

Authorities believe the suspects are linked to Islamic State.

Hubertus Andrae is Munich's police chief: “The information says that these people come from Syria or Iraq or Syria and Iraq,

“But it is information which we have to improve and investigate.”

Britain's former Head of Counter Terror - Major General Chip Chapman - understands why the authorities may have been on edge: “Of course the more experience you have with dealing with these things, the more awareness that you have and the less likely you are to overreact.

“Of course if this is new to you, and novel, then you are likely to overreact.”
