Syria's president has criticised the US-led coalitian against ISIS

Syria's President Bashar Al Assad has criticised the effectiveness of the US-led coalition in defeating the so-called Islamic State in his country.

He has told Czech TV a year of western airstrikes have failed to stop the advance of the militants.

But he claims Russia's recent intervention has been far more positive.

“Since the beginning of that coalition, ISIS has expanded, while since the participation of the Russia in the same fight, so-called against Terrorism, ISIS has been shrinking…

“This is reality, the facts are telling.”
