US Army 'reasonably certain' IS extremist Jihadi John has been killed
The US Army has said it is 'reasonably certain' the so-called Islamic State extremist known as Jihadi John has been killed.
A series of airstrikes targeted the militant, whose real name is Mohammed Emwazi, in Syria.
Colonel Steve Warren has said it was carried out successfully.
“We know for a fact that the weapons system hit its intended target and that the personnel who were on the receiving end of that weapon system were in fact killed,” he said.
“We start to finalise the verification that those personnel were specifically who we thought they were.”
