Weather warning in Sydney as huge storm approaches

A weather formation resembling a huge wave, known as a shelf cloud, has been spotted off the coast of Sydney.

A weather warning is currently in place for the area with people living near-by being advised to keep clear of power lines, trees and drains during the bad weather.

Photographer Nick Moir has been following the storm's progress.

“Shelf clouds are pretty common, but to get them so big and and coming right up toe coast of Sydney is not that common, you get a couple a year,” Mr Moir said.

“But this one is a pretty significant one plus it’s been a warm day a lot of people are out, particularly down at Bondi.”
