China accuses US Navy of 'provocative' manoeuvre

China has summoned the American ambassador after a US Navy warship sailed close to an artificial island in the South China Sea.

Executive Vice Minister Zhang Yesui told Max Baucus that the US had acted in defiance of repeated Chinese objections and had threatened China’s sovereignty and security, the Chinese foreign ministry said on its website.
