New study reveals dancing can increase pain threshold

Most of us know you can dance the night away, but now it is claimed you can dance the pain away.

New research has found that energetic dancing - in sync with others - makes you feel closer to them, but it also raises your pain threshold.

They tested it by getting hundreds of children to dance, and then tightening a blood pressure cuff on them before and afterwards.

The study found the exertion of their dancing, and moving in sync with others, increased the amount of pain they could withstand.

Scientists think it's because of the release of endorphins - or joy chemicals - that flood the body after exercise.
