Police have launched an appeal after a 76-year-old woman died after being hit by a lorry.

Police have launched an appeal after a 76-year-old woman died after being hit by a lorry.

The pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene after the incident on Peckham High Street, south-east London, at 2.04pm.

Her next-of-kin have been informed but officers are awaiting formal identification, and a post-mortem examination will take place in due course.

The driver of the lorry, who stopped at the scene, was not arrested.

Anyone with information or witnesses to the collision are asked to called the Roads and Transport Policing Command at Catford on 0208 285 1574 or the police non-emergency line on 101.
