Five people have been arrested in connection with the latest migrants tragedy in the Mediterranean.

Italian police have detained three Libyans and two Algerians in Palermo, Sicily, on suspicion of multiple homicide and human trafficking.

The Irish naval vessel LE Niamh brought around 360 migrants ashore in Palermo yesterday, after Wednesday's tragedy.

However, it is thought around 200 people died when the wooden boat they were in capsized.
