Desmond Tutu rests at home after treatment in hospital
Retired archbishop Desmond Tutu has returned home after a week-long stay in hospital in Cape Town.
The Desmond and Leah Tutu Legacy Foundation said Tutu returned home today wearing a dressing gown embroidered with the words âFeet Up Archâ, and is now under doctorsâ orders to rest.
It added that the Tutu family had thanked doctors for their work and the public for their support.
The 83-year-old Nobel laureate was admitted to hospital last week where he received treatment for a âstubborn infectionâ.
An earlier statement said he was treated with a course of intensive antibiotics administered intravenously.
Tutuâs daughter Mpho Tutu said her fatherâs treatment was not related to his prostate cancer, which he has had for 18 years and is currently dormant.
