A 31-year-old man has been arrested after a brawl on a motorway in England caused early morning tailbacks.

West Mercia Police were alerted to reports of two men fighting on the carriageway of the M54 in Shropshire at 6.50am today.

A police spokeswoman said a man from Sheffield was detained on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after the incident between junctions 2 and 3 at Wolverhampton and Albrighton.

The other man was not arrested after the fight, which reportedly forced police to close one lane of the motorway.
