Police in England have urged people to stay away from an unlicensed rave.

Officers in Surrey said they are aware of people arriving at Runnymede Eco Village in Egham, and are concerned about the potential for increased crime and threat to public safety.

Anyone turning up at the site will be turned away, police said.

In a statement, they said: “Surrey Police is committed to ensuring the safety of the public and to prevent any disturbance, disruption or distress to the local community and is taking action to halt proceedings.

“The force will not tolerate unregulated, unlicensed events and information received indicated that the potential for increased crime and threat to public safety was a real possibility.

“Officers will direct people preparing, gathering or waiting for the rave to leave the land. In addition the act gives police powers to seize property in relation to an event.”
