Nobel-winning scientist quits after 'trouble with girls' comment

A Nobel laureate whose comments about the “trouble with girls” involved in science sparked an outcry has resigned from University College London (UCL).

Tim Hunt, who was awarded the Nobel prize in physiology or medicine in 2001, yesterday apologised for any offence caused by his remarks at the World Conference of Science Journalists in South Korea.
