Banksy's Glastonbury trailer for sale - for €400k

It was painted by one of the world’s most famous street artists, installed at a mud-soaked music festival and then sat beneath an oak tree, where it was home to an itinerant British couple and their growing family.

In 1998, the truck owner knew British-born artist Banksy as someone he had once busked with and a friend of a friend, and for £200 pounds, he agreed to turn his trailer into a blank canvas for the Glastonbury music festival.

The work called “Silent Majority,” which depicts a commando raid to install sound gear for a rave, goes up for auction tomorrow in Paris. The Digard auction house hopes it will fetch at least €360,000, with an estimation of between €400,000 and €600,000.

The piece has a rare certificate of authenticity, allowing its buyer to own it legally.
