VIDEO: Thief leaves man housebound after stealing mobolity scooter
A 56-year-old man in England has been left housebound after his mobility scooter was stolen.
West Midlands Police branded the daylight theft a heartless act and have now released CCTV in a bid to catch the culprit.
Officers said the intruder first searched the victim’s home while the man slept, before riding off on the scooter.
The victim only discovered that his grey TGA Breeze S4 scooter had gone when he awoke on March 28 to find his home in High Street, Cradley Heath, had been broken into.
Detective Constable Cheryl Jones, of West Midlands Police, said: “This is a very upsetting case as one person’s thoughtless crime has left the victim housebound and deeply distressed.
“The owner relied heavily on his mobility scooter to get about after a failed operation last year and this is a new, devastating blow for him.
“To know someone has been in his home is bad enough, but for the intruder to be so heartless as to steal his only means of getting about is just unthinkable.
“We’d urge anyone who knows anything about the crime, or the stolen scooter, to contact us as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information is urged to call police on 101 or contact Crimestoppers in England anonymously on 0800 555111.
