Obama and Castro hold historic meeting

President Barack Obama and Cuba's Raul Castro are holding their first formal meeting in another historic step towards ending decades of hostility.

It is the first sit-down meeting between US and Cuban leaders in more than half a century.

As the 35-nation summit in Panama entered its second day, Mr Obama called the shift "a turning point".

It is reported Barack Obama says the US is ready to "turn the page" with Cuba, but that significant differences remain.

Mr Castro has called for the lifting of the US economic blockade on Cuba, in place since 1959.
