Hamas leader 'accepts humanitarian truce'

The leader of Hamas has reportedly said that he would accept a humanitarian truce supported by a relief program for the besieged Gaza Strip.

But Khaled Meshaal will not agree to a full ceasefire before any terms are negotiated.

He says a humanitarian truce would depend on Israel ending its siege of Gaza.

It comes after the United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a new resolution, to establish a Commission of Inquiry on human rights issues in Gaza.

More than two thirds of the 168 children killed in violence in Gaza are under the age of 13, according to Unicef.

Israel has been told it may be guilty of war crimes by the UN, because it is not doing enough to protect Palestinian civilians.
