Man arrested on suspicion of murdering baby and mother

A 53-year old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 45-year old woman and a 23-month old baby girl were found dead in Hackney, Scotland Yard said.

It is understood the young girl was the daughter of the woman killed.

Both victims are yet to be formally identified and post-mortem examinations are due to take place, a Metropolitan Police spokesman said.

The Met’s homicide and major crime command is conducting the investigation, led by Detective Chief Inspector Charles King.
