Troops 'protecting citizens and compatriots' in Crimea, says Russian foreign minister

Russia's foreign minister has justified the use of Russian troops streaming into neighbouring Ukraine's Crimea region as a necessary protection for his country's citizens living there.

Sergey Lavrov also called on Kiev to abide by an EU-sponsored deal that Moscow did not sign.
