Authorities fine film director for violating China's family planning laws

Chinese film director Zhang Yimou and his wife have paid more than $1.2m in fines for having three children in violation of China’s strict family planning rules.

Mr Zhang and Chen Ting made the lump sum payment to the family planning office in the eastern city of Wuxi.
