French factory hostages released as staff fail to get guarantees

Two factory managers held captive for two days by French workers protesting over closure plans have been freed after police intervened.

The director and human resources chief at the Goodyear plant in Amiens walked out of the factory minutes after two police officers had entered the building while a dozen others waited outside.
