Armed attack on TV station in DR Congo
An armed group has attacked state TV and radio headquarters in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s capital, a government spokesman said.
Gunshots were heard in Kinshasa as the attackers struck around state TV headquarters, the spokesman said. He did not give further details.
DR Congo has seen violence in its east, where rebel groups operate.
DR Congo, with a population of 66 million, has been ripped by conflict for nearly two decades.
Armed groups have thrived in its mineral-rich forests, despite the presence of nearly 20,000 UN peacekeepers.
