Woman who lost leg in taxi cab crash to sue New York
A British tourist who lost a leg when a taxi jumped a kerb and hit her in New York’s Rockefeller Centre has started the process of suing the city.
Sian Green filed a notice of claim against the city in November, and lawyer Daniel Marchese said other parties might also face lawsuits.
Ms Green’s $27.5m (€20m) city claim says the driver’s taxi licence should have been suspended before the August 20 accident because he had prior driving violations.
The city’s Taxi and Limousine Commission has cited a now-fixed computer problem.
New York’s Law Department says it will review the claim.
Cabbie Mohammed Fasyal Himon has said the accident was not his fault.
