20,000 jobless rush for 400 Ikea jobs in Spain

More than 20,000 people in job-hungry Spain have applied for 400 posts at an IKEA store, crashing the company’s computer servers and illustrating the desperation the country’s six million unemployed face.

A company spokesman said the online applications were for jobs as store workers in a shop to be opened next year outside Valencia.
