Suicide attackers blew up explosives-laden vehicles next to an elementary school and a police station in a small northern Iraqi village on Sunday, killing at least 13 people, many of them children.

A suicide bomber in Iraq has struck Shiite pilgrims passing through a Sunni neighborhood in Baghdad, pushing the day’s death toll from attacks to 27.

Police say the Baghdad attack happened on Sunday afternoon in the northern neighborhood of Waziriyah. They say 12 were killed and 23 wounded.
