Four charged in connection with blaze that killed family of Irish-based doctor

Four people including a 16-year-old have been charged with murder after a fatal house fire in Britain in which the wife and children of an Irish-based doctor were killed.

Leicestershire Police said it had charged the youth, a 24-year-old man and two 19-year-old men with four counts of murder after the deadly blaze in Leicester.

The occupants of the house; Shehnila Taufiq, 47, her daughter Zainab, 19, and sons Bilal, 17, and Jamil, 15, all died after fire swept through their house in Wood Hill in the early hours of Friday, September 13.

They were the family of neurosurgeon Muhammad Taufiq Al-Sattar, who works at Dublin's Beaumont Hospital and was in Ireland at the time of the blaze.

The four in custody will all appear before Leicester Magistrates Court later.

Two men, aged 20 and 19, remain in police custody and a 21-year-old man has been released.

Kemo Porter, 18, was charged on September 19 with four counts of murder and he will appear at Leicester Crown Court at a later date.
