Fort Hood gunman sentenced to death in Texas

A US jury has sentenced Army psychiatrist Nidal Hasan to death for killing 13 people during the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood in Texas.

The US-born Muslim said the attack on unarmed soldiers was motivated by a desire to protect insurgents fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan.
