Five killed in German plane crash

Four adults and a child were killed when a small plane crashed in western Germany, authorities said today.

Three other children were injured when the single-engine Piper came down in a field in the Dortmund area yesterday evening, the dpa news agency reported.

Authorities said the aircraft was on a return trip from Germany’s north coast and was only about 20 miles (30km) from its destination of Arnsberg when it crashed.

Two women, two men and four children were on board but no other details were immediately available.

Two of the injured children were found outside the plane, and one had to be freed from the wreckage.
