Light aircraft crashes into English Channel

A light aircraft is thought to have crashed into the English Channel.

British and French emergency teams have responded after an American-registered plane carrying one person came down 15 miles off Dungeness in Kent this afternoon.

A cross-Channel search and rescue operation has been launched, involving a helicopter and a lifeboat.
