Two charged with murder of man set on fire

Two men in Britain have been charged with the murder of a man who was found alight, police said.

Stephen Norley, 24, and Lee James, also 24, will face Bristol Magistrates’ Court today.

Two women, aged 24 and 32, have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

The charges follow the discovery by paramedics of the man’s body in the early hours of Sunday in Bristol.

Avon and Somerset Police said the man, who has not been named but was in his 40s, had been seriously assaulted and had suffered significant head injuries.

Despite medical attention the man died at the scene of the incident in Capgrave Crescent, Brislington.

The force has referred itself to the Independent Police Complaints Commission because of prior police contact.

The victim had been arrested by officers last Friday on suspicion of a breach of the peace and released later the same day.

A force spokesman said: “Our investigations are continuing and we remain in the community offering reassurance to residents.”
