Quebec town partially destroyed after train derails

A large swath of a town in eastern Quebec was destroyed after a train carrying crude oil derailed, sparking several explosions and forcing the evacuation of up to 1,000 people.

Several people were reported missing but Quebec provincial police Lt Michel Brunet said it was too early to say if there are any casualties in the town of Lac-Megantic, about 155 miles east of Montreal.
