Clashes in Aleppo after US side with rebels in Syrian conflict

Syrian troops and rebels fought the heaviest battles in months in Syria’s largest city, Aleppo, today.

The clashes came a day after US officials said Washington has authorised sending weapons to opposition fighters for the first time.
