Woman dead in blast at Catholic church

A woman died and 44 people were seriously injured when a bomb exploded in a Roman Catholic Church in northern Tanzania.

The regional police Commissioner of Arusha, Magesa Mulogo, said the woman died in hospital as a result of the bombing in the Arusha church just before mass.

Mr Mulogo said eyewitnesses reported that the bomb was thrown from a motorcycle into the church.

He said that the driver of the motorcycle had been arrested.
