Fisherman survives croc 'death roll'

A French fisherman has survived an attack by a crocodile off the coast of northern Australia.

Yoann Galeran, 29, was attacked by a saltwater crocodile while he was swimming from the shore to a dinghy about 50 feet away.

It grabbed his head and neck in its jaws and attempted to drown him, clamping down on his head and neck and attempting to drown him in a maneuver known as a death roll.

He escaped but was treated for head and neck injuries at a hospital in the remote mining town of Nhulunbuy.
