Editor at The Sun charged with conspiring to commit misconduct in public office

An editor at The Sun has been charged in connection with the investigation into illegal payments to police and other public officials.

Fergus Shanahan is accused of authorising two payments worth a total of £4,000 for information - although the exact details have not been disclosed.

The paper's executive editor been charged with conspiring to commit misconduct in public office, and is due in court next month.
