A 101-year-old from east London, who is believed to be the world's oldest distance runner, has retired from competitive events after finishing a race in Hong Kong.

A 101-year-old from east London, who is believed to be the world's oldest distance runner, has retired from competitive events after finishing a race in Hong Kong.

Fauja Singh, nicknamed "the turbanned tornado", started running at the age of 89 and has completed nine 26-mile courses.

His trainer says he will carry on running 16 kilometres a day for personal fitness.
