Iraqi President in hospital
Iraqi President Jalal Talabani has been admitted to hospital with an unspecified health problem, his office said today.
A brief statement on his official website said Mr Talabani was taken to hospital in the capital, Baghdad, yesterday evening after showing signs of fatigue.
The statement gave no further details and said a medical report would be issued later.
Mr Talabani’s spokesman was not available for comment.
The Iraqi presidency is a largely ceremonial post, though it does retain some powers under Iraq’s constitution.
