The UN chief says African warlord Joseph Kony’s militia group, the Lord’s Resistance Army, killed 39 civilians this year in the Congo and the Central African Republic.

A report to the Security Council from Ban Ki-moon said “more than 180 presumed LRA attacks were reported by humanitarian” groups in 2012, in which 193 people were abducted in the two countries.

He says 19 civilians were killed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and 20 in the Central African Republic.

The report says the LRA perpetrated 42 attacks in Congo and 138 in the Central African Republic and drove 443,000 people from their homes.
